A childhood dream by Kozo Yano

Clean-cut, slender, narrow-mouthed, rounded, oval, pointed. The vases moulded at the hand of photographer Kozo Yano seem to be actors in a secret casting session, portrayed on backgrounds which immortalise different acting abilities.

The typically Oriental emotion of space and lightness of balance appear to merge into the harmonious vases of Kozo Yano, who in this series tells of one of his childhood dreams: that of becoming a potter.

When he designs and handles the silhouette of his ceramics, Yano imagines it as a large construction trapped by the background of parallel and perpendicular lines chosen as the theatrical stage for his photographs.

The Japanese photographer is an old favourite of the Lancia TrendVisions website, for whom he previously did an ad hoc shoot in his muse city par excellence, Paris.

Having moved to the French capital almost thirty years ago, he was the creative director in the Parisian headquarters of the advertising agency Hakuhodo and later opened his own communication agency Motmage.

After exhibiting at the Galerie Bertin-Toublanc in Paris and at Gallery 21 in Tokyo, the Japanese artist was invited to host his first personal photo exhibition in Italy, at Hotel Adriano.
