Modebelofte: in the tunnel of future Dutch fashion
The race of the future will have skin the color of opaque marble, with turbulent white and black veins, like the gaseous spots of Jupiter. They’ll pop out of enormous space-time funnels and will wear the garments of the most promising neo-graduates in the Netherlands.
At least these are the predictions of annual exhibition Modebelofte (fashion promise), at De Krabbendans gallery in Eindohoven, which this year centers around the theme "Enter the Funnel".
Called upon to act as fashion sybill and select the participating young talents is fashion consultant and curator Carlo Wijnands. While Niek Pulles (Heyniek) and Martin Schuurmans mounted the exhibition, and for the occasion recovered a troop of "bald" mannequins with juicy lips from the basements of Gruppo Corso, to then cover them in white and black paint until obtaining a modern camouflage effect.
A small legion of fashion warriors armed to the teeth with versatility in colors, tailoring, textiles and forms. Unexpected and experimental pieces, made, among others, by Yvonne Kwok, Yohji van der Aa and by Esther Kruyer. Hurry up to see it, the Modebelofte exhibition concludes on December 2nd.
