Searching for the soul of movement: Modern Drag Downs by Tom Ziebinski
What emotions are hidden behind a gesture? Polish photographer Tom Ziebinski describes them to us by portraying movement and its dynamic fading in series "Modern Drag Downs". His abstract plots are depicted by female nudes, whose dances diluted in time leave smoky trails that remain impressed in a single shot.
Conscious of the power of images in movement, Ziebinski makes an effort to absorb and capture them, allowing ghosts of the figures themselves to emerge. He plays with reality and its appearance and converts the images from figurative to abstract, focusing his attention on minor details and the delicacy of postures.
The question that arises is therefore what is the difference between subjective perception and objective experience of reality? The photographer attempts to answer, leading us into the mysterious place in which only artistic acts can offer possible approaches, that is to say inside the complex relationship that exists between an object and its representation.
